Chinese automaker Avatr is preparing to enter Europe, with Norway and Spain set to become its first markets. The brand made the announcement at the Paris Motor Show, where it also outlined plans for an expanding lineup and local sales and service operations.

Avatr, whose major shareholders include Changan and CATL, has been preparing for its European launch for more than three years. The company is working to establish dealer, service and partner networks in Norway and Spain, with the 06T and 07L scheduled to be among its first European models.

06T estate and 07L SUV lead the launch

The Avatr 06T is a sleek estate, while the 07L is positioned as a luxury SUV. The two vehicles are expected to be followed by six additional models over the next three years. The planned European range will span midsize SUVs, large SUVs and shooting-brake body styles.

Avatr Overseas Business head Justin Li said the brand’s European rollout is expected to begin in 2027, with Norway and Spain serving as its initial launch markets. The 06T and 07L are expected to make their European debuts as part of that expansion.

T09 previews a larger flagship SUV

Avatr also previewed the T09 Concept in Paris. The production T09 is described as a full-sized flagship SUV and is intended to compete in a luxury segment that includes the Li Auto L9, Aito M9 and Zeekr 9X, as well as larger models such as the Mercedes-Maybach GLS and Rolls-Royce Cullinan.

Chinese regulatory filings have provided details about the T09’s expected powertrains. The model is set to be offered as a range-extender electric vehicle, with one version combining a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 141 horsepower with a 241-hp front motor and rear electric motors producing a combined 415 hp.

A second configuration is listed with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder producing 201 hp, a 241-hp front motor and two rear motors rated at 302 hp each. Both versions are expected to use a 71.24-kWh battery in China, although it has not been established whether European-market vehicles will share those specifications.

European support network planned

Although Avatr is only now beginning its European expansion, the company says it already operates in more than 70 countries and regions. It aims to reach 110 countries by 2030 and has sold more than 280,000 vehicles to date.

The brand’s global design center is located in Munich, where designers work with the Shanghai design team on vehicles intended for international markets. For Europe, Avatr plans to work with local dealers and service partners, supported by a regional spare-parts logistics system and roadside assistance.
