Porsche is expanding its involvement with Manthey Racing, raising its stake in the German motorsport organization from 51% to 67%. The increased ownership strengthens a partnership that has connected the two companies since 1996.
Manthey has built a prominent racing program around Porsche sports cars, competing in series including Germany’s DTM, the FIA World Endurance Championship and North America’s IMSA championship. The team has also won the Nürburgring 24 Hours outright seven times, alongside multiple other championships.
Two Porsche models scheduled for 2026 reveal
The expanded collaboration will include two new special-edition Porsche models. They are scheduled to be unveiled on October 9, 2026, during Manthey’s 30th-anniversary celebrations and the DTM season finale at the Hockenheimring.
The announcement provides a clearer indication of Porsche’s continued commitment to Manthey after the automaker had increased its ownership from an earlier 51% majority stake. The source also links the move to concerns that Porsche could seek to exit the partnership following a difficult year for the company and a sharp decline in its stock price.
Manthey performance work joins Porsche sports divisions
Manthey’s role extends beyond circuit racing. The company develops road-car performance kits for several Porsche models, including the 911 GT2 RS, 911 GT3 RS, 718 Cayman GT4 and the all-electric Taycan. The partnership therefore connects Manthey’s track activity with upgrades offered to road-going Porsche vehicles.
Porsche is also introducing an umbrella called “Home of Sports Cars.” It will bring together several areas of the brand’s sports-car business: Heritage, Exclusiveness and Performance. The Exclusiveness division includes Sonderwunsch and Exclusive Manufaktur limited editions, while the Performance category will now include Manthey.
Martin Raeder, joint managing director of Manthey Racing GmbH, described the higher stake as a sign of personal appreciation and said the companies intend to deepen their collaboration while supporting Porsche’s “Sportwagenschmiede ’35” strategy.
