Porsche is increasing its ownership of Manthey Racing from 51% to 67%, expanding a partnership that has connected the two German motorsport organizations since 1996. The move is expected to deepen their collaboration and will include the introduction of two new special-edition Porsche models.
The two cars are scheduled to be unveiled on October 9, 2026. Their presentation will coincide with Manthey’s 30th anniversary and the DTM season finale at the Hockenheimring.
Manthey’s Porsche racing history
Manthey has built a prominent presence in GT racing by campaigning Porsche vehicles across several major championships. Its programs have included Germany’s DTM, the FIA World Endurance Championship and North America’s IMSA championship.
The team has also recorded seven overall victories at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, alongside numerous championship successes. Porsche and Manthey have worked together for three decades, with Porsche taking a majority stake in Manthey in 2013.
The partnership also extends beyond competition. Manthey develops road-car performance kits for several Porsche models, including the 911 GT2 and 911 GT3 RS, the 718 Cayman GT4 and the fully electric Taycan. These products bring elements of the team’s motorsport work to customer vehicles.
New “Home of Sports Cars” structure
Porsche’s announcement also introduces a new umbrella called “Home of Sports Cars.” The structure will bring together several areas of the brand’s sports-car activities, including Heritage, Exclusiveness and Performance.
Exclusiveness will cover Porsche’s Sonderwunsch and Exclusive Manufaktur limited editions, while the Performance division will now include Manthey. The arrangement is intended to consolidate these activities under one broader structure.
Manthey joint managing director Martin Raeder characterized the larger Porsche shareholding as a personal sign of appreciation. He also said the companies intend to further strengthen their cooperation in support of Porsche’s “Sportwagenschmiede ’35” strategy.
The increased stake follows a difficult year for Porsche, during which its stock price declined sharply. The deal reinforces Porsche’s position within Manthey rather than signaling an exit from the racing organization, while the two planned special editions will provide the first major product reveal tied to the expanded relationship.
