Porsche is expanding its Classic Communication Management Plus (PCCM Plus) retrofit program to a newer group of older cars, bringing updated connectivity and navigation features to selected Boxster, Cayman, and 911 models from 2009 through 2016.

The two new infotainment units are designed for the 981.2, 981, 997.2, and 991.1 generations. That covers 2009–2012 and 2013–2016 Boxster and Cayman models, along with 2009–2013 and 2012–2016 versions of the 911.

Factory-style integration

Each system uses a 7-inch touchscreen and is intended to fit into the original dashboard opening without disrupting the car’s appearance. Steering-wheel controls can also operate the systems where those controls were installed from the factory, although the source notes that this does not apply to GT3 models.

The upgraded units add Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth phone connectivity, Wi-Fi, and navigation. Directions and music information can appear in the instrument cluster, while speed-limit displays provide additional driving information. Boxster and Cayman models also receive visual parking assistance alongside audio guidance.

Regional equipment varies. European versions include DAB radio, while U.S. models use HD Radio. All versions retain AM and FM tuners and support Bluetooth audio streaming.

Online services and navigation updates

The systems can display YouTube videos while the vehicle is stationary where local regulations permit. Owners can also adjust the color of the on-screen car graphic to match their vehicle’s exterior.

Navigation includes satellite-image viewing and a Scenic Roads function intended to select a more entertaining route rather than simply the fastest one. A nano SIM provides 4G data access, while map updates can be delivered over the air instead of requiring a dealer visit or manual computer update.

Part of a broader PCCM Plus rollout

PCCM Plus has been available since 2020. More than 300,000 systems have reportedly been sold for 996-generation 911s and first-generation 986 and 987.1 Boxsters and Caymans. Porsche also offers a single-DIN version for older air-cooled 911 models.

Pricing for the two newly added systems has not been revealed. Porsche recommends installation by an official service center, and the units are expected to reach U.S. Porsche dealers early next year.
