Gunther Werks has built a 993-based Porsche 911 Turbo with up to 850 horsepower, giving the restomod more power than a Ferrari 296 GTB without using electric motors, batteries, or a hybrid system.
The latest example of the specialist’s Turbo model combines a heavily reworked carbon-fiber body with a twin-turbocharged flat-six supplied by Rothsport Racing. Its design is inspired by Hercules and uses a caramel-colored finish with gold and purple tones that highlight the extensively modified exterior.
Reworked 993 body
Nearly every exterior panel has been redesigned. The front end features a carbon-fiber splitter and revised air intake, along with a more dramatic hood. New quarter panels and large air intakes behind the doors further distinguish the car from a standard 993.
At the back, a large spoiler incorporates additional air intakes, while a motorsport-inspired diffuser gives the rear a more aggressive appearance. Five-spoke wheels complete the exterior treatment.
Twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter flat-six
Power comes from a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six that revs to 7,500 rpm. In its standard configuration, the engine produces 600 horsepower, while Track mode raises output to 850 hp. Torque is rated at 600 pound-feet, or 813 Nm.
The engine uses billet barrels, Mahle pistons, forged connecting rods, twin charge coolers, and individual throttle bodies. Those components support the substantial output from the non-electrified powertrain.
Gunther Werks has also upgraded the braking hardware to match the car’s performance focus. Six-piston Brembo calipers and 13.9-inch, or 355-millimeter, discs are fitted at the front. The rear axle receives four-piston Brembo calipers and 13.5-inch, or 345-millimeter, discs. Customers planning to use the car on a track can specify carbon-ceramic discs.
Blue suede interior
The cabin follows the exterior’s bespoke approach with blue suede covering the seats, dashboard, door panels, and floor mats. The steering wheel uses matching blue leather, while extensive carbon-fiber trim reinforces the car’s performance-oriented character.
With its extensive bodywork, specialized engine, upgraded brakes, and customized interior, this Turbo represents a particularly high-output and highly finished interpretation of the 993 platform.
