Two 25-year-old drivers in a Porsche 911 and an Audi R8 were arrested after allegedly racing through University Place, Washington, with one vehicle reaching 107 mph in a 35-mph zone, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies did not pursue the cars as they were being driven at dangerous speeds. Instead, officers later located both vehicles and arrested the drivers without initiating a high-speed chase.

Dashcam footage documented the alleged race

Investigators obtained a warrant for dashcam footage recorded inside the Porsche. The video reportedly includes the recording time, GPS-indicated speed, and multiple views of the two cars traveling at extreme speeds.

The footage provided evidence beyond the officers’ initial observations as the vehicles passed by. According to the information released by the sheriff’s office, the camera data showed the Porsche reaching 107 mph while the cars were allegedly racing on public roads.

Both vehicles were impounded

The drivers were arrested on allegations of reckless driving and street racing. The Porsche and Audi were also impounded under 72-hour holds.

The sheriff’s office had not announced the official charges, potential jail sentences, or fines for either driver at the time of the report. Additional consequences could include towing and storage costs, along with court-related expenses and possible insurance impacts, although the final outcomes remain unresolved.

By locating the vehicles later rather than pursuing them at high speed, deputies avoided adding another chase to an already dangerous incident. The case now moves forward through the charging and court process, while the dashcam footage is expected to serve as evidence of the alleged race.
