Mitsubishi has announced a starting price of $37,745 for the 2027 Eclipse Sportback, before a $1,995 destination charge. The electric crossover is based on the 2026 Nissan Leaf, which starts at $29,990 and carries a lower $1,575 delivery fee.
The Eclipse Sportback is expected to arrive later this month in a single, well-equipped trim. Detailed specifications have not yet been released, but the rebadged EV receives lightly revised bumpers, a distinct grille, LED lighting, flush door handles, and model-specific 18-inch wheels.
Equipment and interior
Inside, the Mitsubishi largely retains the Leaf’s cabin, with logo changes providing the primary visual distinction. Standard equipment includes black synthetic leather seating with heating for both rows, along with a 14.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.3-inch infotainment display, and a six-speaker audio system.
Buyers will have one available option: a $2,600 Technology Package. It adds roof rails, a hands-free power liftgate, and a 10-speaker Bose audio system. The package also includes a panoramic glass roof with electrochromic dimming, allowing the glass to switch between transparent and opaque at the press of a button.
Battery, range, and charging
Power comes from a 75-kWh battery connected to an electric motor producing 214 horsepower and 261 lb-ft of torque. The Eclipse Sportback is rated for 282 miles of range on a full charge, falling short of the Nissan Leaf’s maximum listed range of 303 miles.
The charging arrangement also carries over from the Leaf. The vehicle uses both CCS and NACS ports, with the CCS connection supporting Level 1 and Level 2 charging. The NACS port, positioned on the front passenger side, is used for DC fast charging and allows access to Tesla Superchargers.
DC charging rates reach up to 150 kW, enabling the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in approximately 35 minutes.
