Audi says the new-generation RS5 has attracted nearly twice as many European orders as expected, making its launch the most successful in the history of the RS5 nameplate. The 2026 production allocation has already sold out, so customers placing orders now may not receive their cars until next year.
Introduced in February 2026, the latest RS5 replaces both the discontinued RS5 Coupe and RS4 Avant. Audi has shifted the range to five-door Sedan and Avant body styles, while the former two-door coupe is no longer part of the lineup.
Plug-in hybrid powertrain
The RS5 uses Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion architecture, a structure also found beneath the latest A5, A6, Q5, and Q7 lines. Its powertrain combines a twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 with an electric motor for a total output of 630 horsepower (470 kW / 639 PS) and 825 Nm (609 lb-ft) of torque.
A 25.9-kWh battery supports the plug-in hybrid system, while quattro all-wheel drive uses an electromechanical torque-vectoring rear transaxle. Audi’s official specifications list a 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) time of 3.6 seconds and a top speed of up to 285 km/h (177 mph).
Visually, the performance model separates itself from other A5 variants with an exclusive body kit. Its design includes more aggressive bumpers, widened fenders, and large dual oval exhaust outlets.
RS5 expands into additional markets
After the strong European response, the RS5 is beginning its rollout in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Japan. Korea, Taiwan, and additional overseas markets are expected to follow.
Reports indicate that the RS5 Avant will not be offered in the United States, although the RS5 Sedan could still reach the market in the future. No U.S. availability has been confirmed in the supplied information.
In Germany, the RS5 is the most expensive model in the A5 family. The Sedan starts at €106,200 ($118,600), while the Avant carries a starting price of €107,850 ($120,500). Production takes place at Audi’s Neckarsulm plant.
Singapore Grand Prix-inspired finish
Audi’s announcement came ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, scheduled for October 9–11. The Audi Revolut F1 Team introduced a special livery for its Audi R26 single-seater, drawing inspiration from Singapore at night.
The roadgoing RS5 also received a related finish: a special version of Titanium Silver Gray with a bluish shimmer and matte surface. However, Audi created the color specifically for the Formula 1 race and will not offer it for purchase.
