Jeep has introduced the 2027 Cherokee Trailhawk, an off-road-focused version of the crossover with a one-inch suspension lift, improved approach and departure angles, and a four-wheel-drive system with a low-range transfer case. Orders are now open, with production scheduled to begin later this year.

Trailhawk exterior updates

The Trailhawk receives a distinct front fascia with gloss-black detailing, a clearance-oriented bumper, and red recovery hooks. LED lighting, fog lamps, and an anti-glare hood graphic are also included.

Changes at the rear are more limited, although the model adds red tow hooks and Trailhawk badging. A power liftgate with black accents is also part of the equipment.

Suspension and off-road equipment

Unique springs and dampers raise the Cherokee Trailhawk by 1 inch, bringing ground clearance to 9 inches. The crossover also uses skid plates, 17-inch wheels, and Nexen Rodian ATX all-terrain tires.

Jeep lists a maximum water-fording depth of 24 inches. The Trailhawk’s approach, departure, and breakover angles measure 28.8, 31.8, and 21.9 degrees, respectively. By comparison, the standard Cherokee has angles of 19.6, 29.4, and 18.8 degrees.

The Trailhawk’s Active Drive II 4×4 system includes a two-speed transfer case with low range and a 37.5:1 crawl ratio. The regular Cherokee does not offer a low range. A Selec-Terrain system provides Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud, and Rock driving modes.

Interior equipment and powertrain

Inside, the Trailhawk features Mantis Green seats with red contrast stitching and embossed backrests. Radical Red trim and Black Spun Aluminum accents add further visual differentiation.

Equipment includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, heated power front seats, and a heated steering wheel. Available packages add features such as ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a 3,500-pound towing capacity.

Power comes from a hybrid system combining a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, a continuously variable transmission, and a 1.08-kWh battery. The system produces 210 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque.

The Trailhawk’s off-road hardware comes with lower fuel-economy ratings than the standard Cherokee. It is rated at 33 mpg in the city, 29 mpg on the highway, and 31 mpg combined—six mpg lower across each measure.

Pricing and production

The 2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk starts at $44,625, including a $1,995 destination fee. That places it below the Cherokee Overland, which starts at $45,125.
