General Motors’ U.S. sales fell 5.5% in the third quarter, with steep declines across its electric vehicle lineup contributing to the company’s broader downturn. GM sold 670,974 vehicles from July through September, compared with 710,347 during the same period in 2025.
The company’s total sales for the first nine months of the year reached 2,012,299 vehicles, down 6.4% from the corresponding period a year earlier. The decline follows the end of the $7,500 federal electric vehicle tax credit in September, a change that has coincided with weaker EV sales in the United States.
