Doug DeMuro is selling his 2005 Ford GT through Cars & Bids, offering the well-used supercar with no reserve. The Midnight Blue example has covered 45,800 miles, including approximately 14,400 driven by DeMuro since he purchased it in 2018.

Bidding had reached $506,000 when the listing was reported, with the auction scheduled to end October 17. The final price could be influenced by both the car’s condition and its connection to the automotive YouTuber and Cars & Bids founder.

Modified supercharged V8

The Ford retains its original 5.4-liter supercharged V8. In factory form, the engine produced 550 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque, but this car has been fitted with a smaller supercharger pulley intended to increase output. No dyno sheet is included to establish its current power figure.

Power continues to reach the rear wheels through the original six-speed manual transmission. The modifications also include a Ford Racing short shifter and an Alpine head unit.

The sale includes several factory components, including the original exhaust, stereo, and shift linkage. Those parts give the next owner the option of returning the car closer to its original specification.

Two-owner history and extensive records

DeMuro purchased the GT from automotive journalist Karl Brauer in September 2018. Brauer had owned the car since new, making DeMuro its second owner.

The documentation accompanying the sale is unusually extensive. It includes the factory build book, the original order form, two window stickers, and period Ford marketing materials. Brauer also kept a notebook documenting every fuel stop from 2005 through 2018.

Multiple videos covering the car’s life, both before and after DeMuro acquired it, are also included. Together, the records provide detailed documentation of the Ford’s ownership and use.

Visible wear from regular use

The mileage has resulted in some disclosed cosmetic imperfections. The listing notes chips on the front end and diffuser, wear on the seats, scratches on the shift knob, and clearcoat deterioration on one wheel.

DeMuro originally sought a Ford GT he could drive without being overly concerned that mileage would significantly reduce its value. After putting thousands of miles on the car, he is now selling it to pursue a Heritage Edition model. The current GT auction gives another buyer the opportunity to continue using a documented example rather than keeping it solely as a low-mileage collectible.
