Acura’s one-off ADX CZ-77 Concept gives the compact SUV a much more aggressive appearance, combining custom bodywork, motorsport-inspired details and BMX-focused practicality. Built with Vans athlete Coco Zurita, the concept showcases modifications that could make the ADX more distinctive, although there is no indication that this version will enter production.
The ADX recorded 20,133 U.S. sales last year, compared with 41,460 for the larger MDX. The sales gap could give Acura reason to add more compelling variants to the ADX range, but the CZ-77 remains a bespoke design exercise rather than a confirmed production model.
Exterior changes focus on appearance
The concept’s transformation centers on visual upgrades rather than mechanical changes. A custom carbon-fiber splitter, flared front and rear wheel arches, distinctive side skirts, motorsport-style wing mirrors and a rear diffuser give the SUV a wider, more competition-inspired look.
A custom exhaust, rear bar and black graphics add further changes, while Rotiform aero disc wheels are fitted with Yokohama Advan Sport V105 tires. The exterior treatment uses fabric found in Vans shoes, connecting the concept to Zurita’s BMX background and the broader tuning scene.
The cargo area has also been adapted to store and display a BMX bike. Despite the concept’s Type S- or Type R-like appearance, its powertrain has not received a major upgrade.
Racing-inspired interior
Inside, the CZ-77 replaces the standard ADX cabin’s presentation with Sparco racing seats and steering wheel, custom red upholstery, a racing harness and a rear-seat delete. White-and-black checkered fabric adds another motorsport-themed detail.
The concept could have been even more performance-focused with the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder used by the Honda Civic Type R and Acura Integra Type S, but that engine is not part of the CZ-77’s stated modifications.
Future ADX updates remain unconfirmed
Acura is investing in new and refreshed SUVs for the U.S. market, including a three-row flagship positioned above the MDX and an adventure-oriented model based on the Honda Passport TrailSport. An entirely new ADX is not currently in the cards, although a recent report indicated that updated Acura SUVs, including the ADX, may be in development.
A hybrid ADX would be a more obvious potential addition to the lineup and could share its powertrain with the Honda Civic Hybrid. However, neither that possibility nor a production version resembling the CZ-77 Concept has been confirmed.
