Ford is expected to expand the Ranger’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 to the 2027 XLT and Lariat models, according to information about the forthcoming pickup. If the change proceeds, those versions would drop the current 2.7-liter V6 from their available engines.
The 3.0-liter engine is currently exclusive to the Ranger Raptor within Ford’s midsize pickup lineup. In that application, it produces 405 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. The Bronco Raptor’s version makes 418 hp and 440 lb-ft.
Output for non-Raptor Rangers remains unclear
Ford has not indicated how much the engine would be detuned for the less performance-focused Ranger XLT and Lariat. One possibility is the output reportedly expected for several 2027 Bronco models: 380 hp and 440 lb-ft.
That calibration would give the standard Ranger variants 10 lb-ft more torque than the Ranger Raptor, however. The available information suggests Ford could therefore reduce the output somewhat further, although no final figures have been provided.
The 2027 F-150 offers one potential indication of Ford’s approach. Its twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 is rated at 325 hp and 400 lb-ft, figures that match the previous 2.7-liter engine in that pickup.
Additional 2027 Ranger updates
An online order guide also lists several other changes for the 2027 Ranger lineup, including new 17-, 18-, and 20-inch wheel designs for the XL, XLT, and Lariat. The truck is also expected to receive revised front grilles.
Ford is adding Neptune Blue to the Ranger’s color choices while removing Carbonized Gray and Velocity Blue. The guide also lists newly available rocker rails with hoop steps. In addition, the black Ford oval badge is reportedly being replaced by a traditional blue version.
Other listed updates include changes to the Ranger’s interior and Co-Pilot360 technology, along with several new option packages. Intersection assist and lane-keeping technology are listed as standard on the XL, while Co-Pilot360 becomes standard on the XLT.
The XL is also listed with a 12-inch infotainment display and dual-zone climate control as standard equipment. New packages include the Bronze Appearance Package, Bronze Appearance Graphics Delete, Black Appearance Graphics Delete, and Luxury Package.
Ford has not yet provided the final power output for the non-Raptor 3.0-liter Ranger models, so the engine’s exact calibration remains unconfirmed.
