Land Rover is preparing a minor update for the fifth-generation Range Rover, with new spy photographs offering the clearest look yet at the revised full-size luxury SUV. The prototype shows limited visible changes, suggesting the facelift will preserve the model’s familiar design.

The current-generation Range Rover was unveiled nearly five years ago, putting it on schedule for a refresh. Unlike earlier test vehicles, this prototype was photographed without black cladding over the front end, exposing the grille and bumper.

Small changes to the front end

The grille retains the same general shape and dimensions as the current model, but its mesh appears to have been revised. The updated design uses smaller horizontal slats positioned more closely together.

The headlights do not show an obvious change in shape, although the integrated daytime running lights could receive updates. The bumper appears largely unchanged.

No significant alterations are expected along the sides. The prototype remains camouflaged in those areas, but replacing or redesigning the doors would be an expensive undertaking. At the rear, the familiar vertical taillights and black horizontal strip containing the turn signals remain visible.

Interior details remain unclear

The spy images provide little insight into the production cabin. This particular test vehicle has been stripped out and fitted with a roll cage and two OMP racing seats, equipment that is not expected to appear in the production Range Rover.

Potential cabin updates reported previously include the possible addition of a curved infotainment display, though the images do not confirm whether that change will be included.

Existing powertrains expected to continue

The Range Rover’s powertrain lineup is expected to remain mostly unchanged. Flagship versions should continue with BMW-sourced twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 power, producing up to 607 horsepower when paired with a mild-hybrid system.

Other current engines include JLR’s turbocharged 3.0-liter Ingenium inline-six, which produces between 355 horsepower in the P360 and 550 horsepower in the plug-in-hybrid P550e. The twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six diesel is also expected to remain available.

Based on the prototype, the facelift appears focused on detailed revisions rather than a major redesign. More extensive information about the interior and final production changes has not yet been shown.
