Italian startup Angelelli Automobili has previewed the Tipo 829, a planned mid-engined-style supercar concept shown in three versions: the track-focused Pista, the mixed-surface Terra, and the road-oriented Strada. The project follows the company’s 2022 preview of the 300-mph Superpeformante D-One hypercar.

However, the Tipo 829 remains an early-stage proposal. Angelelli Automobili has released only a small number of low-quality renderings and limited technical information. Designing a supercar is considerably different from developing and producing one, so the project’s eventual viability will depend on whether the company can secure the resources required to build it.

Named after the Lancia Stratos

The Tipo 829 name references the Lancia Stratos, whose internal designation was Tipo 829. The new car is described as using a 3.2-liter V6 producing 500 horsepower, with all-wheel drive listed as standard. Angelelli has not disclosed whether the car would use a bespoke platform or an existing vehicle architecture.

All three versions share a common exterior design. The front end features a low nose, a prominent splitter, a horizontal LED light bar, and a separate vertical LED element. The windshield has been positioned farther forward, aligning it with the front axle. Angelelli says that layout should help create a more spacious cabin despite the car’s compact overall footprint.

Three versions for different driving environments

The Pista is positioned as the most aggressive member of the lineup. The preview car wears a white, green, and red Alitalia-inspired livery and adds track-oriented aerodynamic hardware, including a revised splitter, canards, a bespoke hood, and front quarter panels with louvers. New side skirts and a large fixed rear wing are also included. The company has not said whether the Pista would receive mechanical changes in addition to its aerodynamic upgrades.

The Terra is intended for driving on mixed surfaces, including rally stages and hill climbs. Its role brings it conceptually closer to high-performance off-road variants such as the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato, although the Tipo 829 Terra is shown with a similarly low stance to the Pista. Angelelli says the Terra’s chassis would be configured for uneven surfaces, with additional suspension travel and greater ground clearance.

Completing the initial trio is the Tipo 829 Strada, which is intended to focus on road performance. Beyond the three configurations and the limited specifications disclosed so far, Angelelli Automobili has not provided details about production, timing, pricing, or the car’s underlying engineering.
