Manthey is celebrating three decades of motorsport with 30 special Porsche race cars: 15 examples of the 911 GT3 Cup MR 30 and 15 718 GT4 RS Clubsport MR 30 models. Both versions are designed exclusively for track use and feature anniversary graphics commemorating the company’s 30-year history.
The 911 GT3 Cup MR 30 receives the more substantial mechanical change. Manthey has increased the displacement of its 992.1-generation flat-six from 4.0 to 4.2 liters, raising output from 503 horsepower to 552 horsepower, or 560 PS. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential transmission.
Engine upgrade returns to Manthey’s anniversary 911
The larger engine represents a return to an earlier aspect of Manthey’s racing work. The company modified engines in 996- and 997-generation 911 race cars during the 1990s and 2000s, while its more recent upgrade programs have placed greater emphasis on aerodynamics, suspension and cooling.
Beyond the engine revision, Manthey’s description of the 911 GT3 Cup MR 30 focuses on aerodynamic, cooling and weight-reduction modifications that appear to be available through the existing 911 GT3 Cup MR program. The anniversary cars are distinguished visually by “30 Years of Manthey” graphics on the rear-wing end plates and seats.
718 Cayman GT4 RS keeps its 4.0-liter engine
The 718 GT4 RS Clubsport MR 30 retains its 4.0-liter engine, producing 500 horsepower. Unlike the 911, it uses a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It also carries the 30-year graphics, but does not receive the 4.2-liter engine upgrade applied to the GT3 Cup-based model.
Manthey’s anniversary collection arrives as Porsche increases its ownership stake in the motorsport company from 51 percent to 67 percent. Manthey is also becoming part of Porsche’s new Performance business vertical, alongside Exclusiveness and Heritage.
The Exclusiveness division includes Porsche’s Sonderwunsch “special wish” and Exclusive Manufaktur personalization operations. The move further aligns Manthey with Porsche’s performance activities, while the 30 special race cars mark the company’s 30 years in competition.
