Porsche has teased the Mission S, a new supercar concept positioned as a successor in spirit to the 918 Spyder. The model is scheduled to make its global debut at next week’s Paris Motor Show as part of the automaker’s broader Sportwagenschmiede ’35 strategy.

Porsche describes the Mission S as a preview of “a potential mid-engined super sports car platform for the future.” The company has released only limited information so far. A short video posted to Instagram shows details including the concept’s LED headlights, but does not reveal enough of the vehicle to establish its full design.

The Mission S could draw some styling influence from the Mission X, Porsche’s electric concept revealed in 2023, although that connection has not been confirmed. Porsche has also not disclosed powertrain specifications or other technical details for the new halo model.

A flagship for Porsche’s repositioning

The Mission S is expected to sit well above the 911 in Porsche’s lineup, which currently spans prices from $138,000 to more than $200,000. Its inclusion in the Sportwagenschmiede ’35 plan comes as Porsche works to improve declining sales and profits by reducing vehicle volume while increasing revenue and margins.

As part of the strategy, Porsche intends to raise the average selling price of its most expensive models by 20 percent. The automaker also plans to improve margins across the rest of its range. Reducing the number of model variants by 20 percent is expected to lower costs, while Porsche anticipates a 30 percent increase in sales volume for the variants that remain.

The plan also calls for greater emphasis on Porsche’s heritage and the creation of more emotionally focused 911 variants. The brand intends to apply the 911’s design and product identity across its broader range, including its SUVs.

Additional models and business changes

Porsche is also preparing changes elsewhere in its lineup. The Cayenne will receive greater emphasis, while a more exclusive SUV positioned above it is in the company’s plans. The automaker confirmed that a combustion-engine replacement for the discontinued Macan will be sold alongside the Macan Electric, with both gasoline and hybrid power options available. That model is due to debut in 2028, after the electric 718 Boxster and Cayman arrive.

Another part of the restructuring involves Manthey Racing. Porsche has increased its stake in the performance specialist to 67 percent, and Manthey will operate within a new Performance division. The other new business pillars are Heritage and Exclusiveness, with the latter encompassing the Sonderwunsch customization department and the Exclusive Manufaktur personalization team.
