Alpine has previewed the PS1, a new concept car that will debut at the Paris Motor Show on October 12. Its first teaser highlights an unusual headlight arrangement in which the lamps disappear beneath flush-fitting covers in the hood.

The PS1 name stands for “Project Special 1,” rather than referencing the PlayStation console. Alpine describes it as the first example of its future “special projects” product pillar. That group is expected to sit above the “Extraordinary Everyday” range, which includes the A290 and A390, and the “Icons” pillar represented by the A110.

Hidden headlights previewed

In the dark teaser image, the PS1’s headlights are concealed when switched off. The covers recess into the bodywork to expose narrow LED elements featuring French flag colors. The approach delivers a retro-inspired appearance while avoiding the external pop-up headlight arrangement associated with older sports cars.

The teaser also shows part of the concept’s broad fenders and camera-based exterior mirrors. Although the image does not identify the vehicle’s body style, those details suggest a low-slung, aerodynamic design.

Possible A310-inspired sports car

The rectangular lighting units and surrounding body surfaces recall the Alpine A310, which was produced from 1971 to 1984. Alpine is working on a new 2+2 grand tourer with an all-electric powertrain, and the PS1 could preview that future model.

The concept may also point toward an electric sports car positioned against the Porsche 911. That possibility is linked to Alpine’s work on the next-generation A110 and its Alpine Performance Platform, which could be shared by the two vehicles. The source material does not confirm the PS1’s final production form or powertrain, however.

Alpine has said the teaser will be the only preview before the concept’s full presentation during the Paris Motor Show press day. The PS1 will be displayed alongside the A110 Sculpture, while the A290 hot hatchback and A390 sport fastback will appear with additional colors, trims and finishes created through the Atelier Alpine personalization program.
