A heavily modified 1993 Land Rover Defender 6×6 has been listed for sale at $299,950 after receiving a supercharged Ford V8, extensive chassis upgrades, and a full interior overhaul.
The Defender began life as a standard model before being converted into a six-wheeler by UK-based Chelsea Truck Company roughly a decade ago. After being exported to the United States, it underwent another major renovation by Hyper Offroad & Performance.
Supercharged V8 power
The original Land Rover engine was removed in favor of a 5.0-liter supercharged Coyote V8 producing 700 horsepower. Power is sent through Ford’s 6R80 six-speed automatic transmission, although the vehicle’s torque output has not been specified.
Hyper Offroad also modified the suspension and replaced or revised the fluid lines as part of the conversion. A custom 2.5-inch exhaust system was added to accommodate the V8.
Six-wheel drivetrain and off-road hardware
The six-wheel layout combines the Defender’s original front axle with two Ford 9-inch rear axles and a heavy-duty transfer case. Fox 2.0 Performance Series dampers and Wilwood brakes are also fitted.
Additional equipment includes a Warn front winch, a black bull bar, a roof-mounted LED light bar, and aftermarket wheels with General Grabber X3 LT2 tires. Signature Autosports, based in Wilmington, North Carolina, recently repainted the vehicle in a matte gray finish.
Updated cabin
The interior has been retrimmed in dark brown Distressed Pinecone leather covering the seats, dashboard, center console, and door panels. The cabin also includes heated and cooled Recaro seats, Dakota Digital gauges, an Alpine and JL Audio sound system, and an Alcantara headliner.
Signature Autosports has listed the Defender on its website for $299,950. The source compares that figure with roughly twice the going rate of a new Defender Octa.
