General Motors is recalling 29,347 Cadillac Optiq electric SUVs because the power windows may fail to detect and reverse from an obstruction during key-fob operation. The issue affects certain 2025–2027 model-year vehicles and involves the windows’ express-up function.

When the windows are raised using the key fob, the glass may continue moving if it encounters an obstruction within the final 0.5 inches, or 13 millimeters, of travel. That means the anti-pinch system may not activate in that portion of the window’s closing path.

Software setting blamed for the issue

Anti-pinch technology is designed to monitor the resistance placed on the window motor. If the system detects an obstruction, it should stop the glass and reverse its direction. The Optiq issue results from an incorrectly set upper travel range in the anti-pinch software.

In recall documentation, GM identifies supplier Kwangjin America as responsible for setting the software range incorrectly. Because the condition does not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 118, the affected vehicles require a remedy.

GM says it has not received reports of injuries or fingers being caught because of the problem.

Optiq recall can be fixed with a software update

The repair does not require replacement hardware or disassembly of the door. Dealers will update the Body Control Module software to correct the anti-pinch operation. Optiq owners who have enabled over-the-air updates may be able to receive the fix without visiting a dealership.

The recall follows another Cadillac software change affecting the Optiq, Lyriq, Vistiq and CT5-V. The automaker is introducing larger virtual buttons in the infotainment interfaces after customer feedback indicated that the existing touch targets could be difficult to select, particularly while driving.
