Range Rover has unveiled the all-new Range Rover Sport Electric, an electric SUV that combines a 118.5-kWh battery with performance figures matching the brand’s supercharged V8-powered Sport. The new model closely follows the styling of the combustion-powered Range Rover Sport while adopting technology from the larger Range Rover Electric.

The Sport Electric uses an updated version of the Modular Longitudinal Architecture Flex platform and an 800-volt electrical system. Its dual-motor setup produces 542 horsepower and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque. With Dynamic Launch Control engaged, the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds.

Range Rover estimates a maximum driving range of 373 miles (600 km). The battery supports DC fast charging at up to 350 kW, allowing a 10-to-80-percent charge in 22 minutes. A 10-minute charging session can add up to 137 miles (220 km) of range.

Electric power with familiar styling

Visually, the electric model remains close to the current combustion-powered Range Rover Sport. The most noticeable differences are the absence of exhaust outlets, a more aerodynamic grille design and distinct alloy wheels.

Range Rover has also developed a dedicated soundscape for the vehicle. The system is intended to add an engineered acoustic character to the electric powertrain, although the source does not establish whether it will replicate the emotional impact of the Sport’s V8 models.

Off-road systems retained

The move to electric power does not remove the Sport’s off-road hardware. The SUV features the latest version of Intelligent Traction Management, Dynamic Air Suspension, Active Roll Control, twin-valve dampers and adaptive dynamics.

Its adaptive dynamics system monitors 100 parameters 500 times per second. Range Rover tested the vehicle at open-air Carrara marble quarries in Italy, where it was driven across slippery surfaces and steep gradients. The Sport Electric also includes all-wheel steering, can wade through up to 35.4 inches (900 mm) of water and can tackle inclines of up to 45 degrees.

Compared with a current plug-in hybrid Range Rover Sport, the electric model has a body structure that is 61 percent stiffer and a center of gravity lowered by 2.8 inches (73 mm). These changes accompany a chassis setup developed specifically for the electric model.

Two versions planned for launch

The Range Rover Sport Electric will be offered in Dynamic HSE and Autobiography versions. The Autobiography model will provide access to Range Rover’s Bespoke commissioning service for additional customization.

Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in select markets during the first quarter of 2027. The electric Range Rover Sport will not be offered in the United States for the 2027 model year.
