Mercedes-AMG’s first electric SUV combines extreme power with advanced chassis technology, artificial engine sounds, track-focused software and a cabin closely related to the AMG GT sedan. The GT SUV will be offered in GT 53, GT 55 and GT 63 forms, with output ranging from 536 to 1,153 horsepower.

Three electric power levels

The entry-level GT 53 uses a 106-kWh battery and two electric motors producing 536 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive helps it accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 4.2 seconds and reach 124 mph in 14.6 seconds. Its combined WLTP range is listed at up to 415 miles, while 600-kW charging is supported.

The GT 55 adds three axial-flux motors and produces 805 hp and 1,371 lb-ft of torque. Its 0-to-62-mph time drops to 3.1 seconds, with 124 mph arriving in 9.9 seconds. Buyers can choose between 106-kWh and 128-kWh batteries. With the larger pack, the SUV supports 710-kW DC charging and can add 83 kWh in 10 minutes. Depending on the battery, range is rated at up to 364 or 435 miles.

At the top of the lineup, the GT 63 uses three upgraded motors to deliver 1,153 hp and 1,475 lb-ft of torque. It reaches 62 mph in 2.7 seconds and 124 mph in 7.2 seconds. Mercedes-AMG lists the same maximum combined WLTP range for the GT 63 as for the GT 55.

Active chassis hardware

The GT 55 and GT 63 receive AMG Active Ride Control+ suspension, combining triple-stage adjustable air springs with hydraulic systems designed to replace conventional sway bars. The setup provides active pitch and roll stabilization, while rear-axle steering can turn the rear wheels by up to 6 degrees.

The SUV weighs as much as 5,985 pounds in GT 55 specification. Steel brakes are standard on the GT 53 and GT 55, although carbon-ceramic brakes are available for the GT 55 and standard on the GT 63. An intelligent all-wheel-drive system with torque vectoring is also part of the package.

Artificial sound and track software

All three versions feature AMGFORCE Sport+, a system intended to recreate the sound and sensations of a combustion-powered AMG. The GT 53 simulates an inline-six, while the GT 55 and GT 63 draw on the sounds of AMG V8 models, including the AMG GT R. The system also incorporates simulated gear changes, seat shakers and multiple soundscapes.

For track use, the infotainment system includes AMG Track Pack. It records more than 80 data points and displays telemetry and live timing on the driver display and head-up display. Augmented reality can overlay a racing line onto the circuit, while dedicated Race and Sprint modes are joined by Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Slippery, Eco and Individual settings.

GT sedan-inspired interior

The cabin follows the layout of the AMG GT sedan, with a 10.2-inch gauge cluster, a driver-focused 14-inch infotainment display and an optional 14-inch passenger screen. Carbon-fiber trim, physical controls and three rotary dials for adjusting chassis response, cornering and slip behavior are included.

Available equipment includes a 4D Burmester audio system, a Sky Control panoramic glass roof with transparent and opaque modes, and extensive leather upholstery.

Mercedes-AMG has not announced a launch date or U.S. specifications. Sales are expected to begin next summer. In Europe, the GT 53 is listed from €113,500, while the GT 55 and GT 63 are due to launch between March and May with pricing yet to be confirmed.
