Lexus has used its Nürburgring facility in Germany to refine the updated RX, applying chassis changes intended to improve stability, ride comfort, and the SUV’s overall response. The revised model has so far been announced only for Japan.

The development work took place on the Nordschleife, where Lexus says the circuit’s uneven surfaces and frequent elevation changes provided a useful environment for tuning the RX. The adjustments are also intended to produce more linear and natural handling characteristics.

Additional RX equipment

Alongside the chassis revisions, the Japanese-market RX receives several equipment updates. New infrared-cut glass for the front doors is designed to improve heat rejection, while the brake hold system gains a memory function.

The RX350 and RX350h now include a digital rearview mirror. Front and rear dashcams are also standard across the updated range described by Lexus.

Japanese-market powertrains and pricing

Japan’s RX lineup begins with the RX350 L, powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The front-wheel-drive version starts at ¥7,040,000, equivalent to approximately $44,600, while the all-wheel-drive model starts at ¥7,450,000, or about $47,200. Both produce 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet (430 Nm) of torque.

The all-wheel-drive RX350 F Sport is positioned above the RX350 L, with pricing beginning at ¥7,510,000, approximately $47,600. It uses the same 275-hp powertrain output listed for the RX350 models.

The RX350h combines a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors. It produces 246 hp and 233 lb-ft (316 Nm) of torque. Japanese pricing starts at ¥8,000,000, or roughly $50,700, for the front-wheel-drive version and ¥8,510,000, approximately $53,900, for all-wheel drive.

Above the RX350h is the RX450+, which uses an upgraded 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid powertrain with a combined output of 304 hp. It starts at ¥9,130,000, equivalent to about $57,800.

The range-topping RX500h uses a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and produces 366 hp and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. Its Japanese-market starting price is ¥9,290,000, or approximately $58,800.

Lexus has not indicated when these updates could reach other markets.
